It seems that the UK has more celebrity shows than celebrities: I'm a celebrity, get me out of here (a.k.a. 'Bobo's in de Bush'), Celebrity Cooks, Celebrity Wrestling, Celebrity Big Brother, Celebrity Stand up Comedy, The Celebrity Games, Celebrity Strictly come Dancing, Celebrity Slimming and most recently Celebrity Love Island with amongst others, Rebecca Loos.

Although called celebrity shows, I never seem to recognize any of the people on them. So I asked a Brit where all of these people come from, and as it turns out some are long forgotten soap opera actors, but most of them are actually an indirect product of Holland's most successful export product ever: Big Brother.

Whilst John de Mol has been critisised for suggesting to run Big Brother 4 in the Netherlands this fall, UK's Channel 4 proudly kicked off the Sixth season tonight. And while we hardly even remember the first Dutch Big Brother house inhabitants, in the UK every season has proven to be the road to success, or should that be: a chart single, fitness video, Playboy/FHM cover, or celebrity show.

As with most reality shows, it's getting very hard to believe that the people involved are 'real'. Having watched some of the strangest, most outspoken people entering the Big Brother house tonight (all aged between 19-26 and some of them being students) I cannot believe that either one of them wasn't acting his/her way in during auditions. However, an online survey shows that the UK people are mostly hoping to see lots of arguments and fights in this years edition, rather than romances, sex, fun and drunkiness. No further questions then.
